What is a Christian?

In today's divisive environment, Christianity is being relegated to cult status by a progressive culture bent on freeing the Earth of its archaic traditions. Since Christians are an endangered species it might be a good idea to identify what a Christian is; let's start with what they are not. Christians are not religious organizations that practice varying oppressive beliefs, that is a denomination. There are no denominations in Heaven! A Christian has a supernatural life-changing experience. Jesus explained this experience to a religious man. “Jesus answered, ‘I assure you, everyone must be born again. Anyone who is not born again cannot be in God’s kingdom.’ John 3:3)  Jesus went on to explain that it is the spirit within you that is changed. The transformation of our spirit enables us to communicate with God in the Spirit. “The only life people get from their human parents is physical. But the new life that the Spirit gives a person is spiritual.  Don’t be surprised that I told you, ‘You must be born again.”(John 3:6-7) When a person is reborn into the body of Christ they become part of the family of God and endowed with abilities that fit their personality. “All of you together are the one body of Christ, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.” (1Cor.12:27) Christians are not just churchgoers, they are expected to be doers of God's Word, not just hearers. “Do what God’s teaching says; don’t just listen and do nothing. When you only sit and listen, you are fooling yourselves.” (James 1:22)

When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we become part of an elite army of trained and in training believers. The objective of our mission is to control an evil Empire lead by the Prince of darkness. “Last of all, I want to remind you that your strength must come from the Lord’s mighty power within you. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan.  For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.”(Eph.6:10-12) All of the trouble that floods Earth is caused by Satan’s evil Empire. The body of Christ is equipped with spiritual weapons to control evil. “We live in this world, but we don’t fight our battles in the same way the world does.  The weapons we use are not human ones. Our weapons have power from God and can destroy the enemy’s strong places. We destroy people’s arguments,  and we tear down every proud idea that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We also capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.” (2 Cor.10:3-5)

As trouble on Earth worsens, the body of Christ remains steadfast in combat with the armies of Hell in preparation for the return of Jesus Christ to Earth. “The secret power of evil is already working in the world now. But there is one who is stopping that secret power of evil. And he will continue to stop it until he is taken out of the way. Then that Man of Evil will appear. But the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath that comes from his mouth. The Lord will come in a way that everyone will see, and that will be the end of the Man of Evil.” (2 Thess. 2:7-8) Notice in the above verse there is a very powerful force for good slowing the spread of evil. This force is the body of Christ. At a designated time in the future, the body of Christ will be caught-away out of the earth giving Hell its way for a short period of years. Upon Jesus' return, He will soundly defeat the forces of darkness in the final battle. For more about “What is a Christian” and the end of the age read “Beam me up Commander” it’s free.
