Texas Carnage: Mentally Ill or Possessed

On Sunday, Nov. 5th a man walked into a small church in central Texas and gunned down 26 innocent people including small children. It is the latest in a string of mass murders that have gone beyond alarming. Six thousand years ago, Cain murdered his brother in a jealous rage and set the stage for what has become the bloody legacy of humanity. What is most troubling about the recent wave of mass murder is the lack of reason. People are killing other people for no rational reason. The politically correct response to these irrational acts of violence is either too many guns or not enough attention to mental health. When Cain killed his brother he likely used a rock or club; in either case, Able died and Cain showed no remorse. Around the year 1546 BC, the King of Egypt ordered all male babies born to Jewish mothers thrown into the river to stop Jewish expansion. It was the first recorded mass murder. In 1939, Hitler's Germany began the systematic slaughter of six million Jews over the following 5 years ending the worst mass murder in history. Killing is nothing new, but there is no denying that weapons of mass destruction have increased the carnage.  The question is, are the acts of murder, mental illness, or are they caused by an unseen world of evil spirits? You simply cannot solve a problem without identifying the cause.

The answer is found in the ministry of Jesus Christ.  “And you no doubt know that Jesus of Nazareth was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit and with power, and he went around doing good and healing all who were possessed by demons, for God was with him.”(Acts 10:38) Most people have no trouble believing what they can see but waiver at what they cannot see. If you believe in God, as most people claim, then you must accept the reality of dual worlds and what the Bible clearly says about both. The gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John record the short earthly ministry of Jesus. He traveled the countryside teaching and preaching salvation through faith, healing the sick and casting out devils who possessed the deranged.  Jesus traveled all through Galilee teaching in the Jewish synagogues, everywhere preaching the Good News about the Kingdom of Heaven. And he healed every kind of sickness and disease.  And whatever their illness and pain, or if they were possessed by demons, or were insane, or paralyzed—he healed them all.”(Matt.4:23,24) Jesus empowered his church to do as He was doing. “Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them the authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of sickness and disease. He then commissioned them to “Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.  Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure the lepers, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!”(Matt. 10)

Psychotherapy, mind-numbing drugs, and jail cells have no effect on devils from another world. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.” (Eph. 6:10)  God has not left us helpless, He has provided spiritual weapons to defeat Hell until Jesus returns and rids the Earth of all evil influence. " Last of all, I want to remind you that your strength must come from the Lord’s mighty power within you.  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan.” (Eph. 6:10)  You might be one that believes this is all foolish nonsense. You are not alone, and that is why the carnage and evil will continue to escalate until Jesus returns. For more about the world of unseen spirits read “Beam me up Commander” its free!
