On the Highway to Hell

On the Highway to Hell

In 1979, the Rock Band, AC/DC released their hit Album “Highway to Hell.” The classic recording went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time.. “Highway to Hell” was a powerful influence on the rock revolution of the 70s and 80s. The target was the conservative Christian values of that era. No one in their right mind wants to go to Hell if they can go to Heaven. But, that’s only relevant if you believe they both exist. Sadly, more people choose Hell over Heaven because they don’t know any better. “Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way.”(Matt. 7:13) Both Heaven and Hell are real places with governing principalities. Heaven is governed by love while Hell is governed by envy and strife. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish ( in hell), but have everlasting life (in heaven).”(John 3:16) Rebellion through music has always been an outlet for young people to identify with. When they have their ear pods in they are likely listening to toxic social media or anti-Christian music. The outcome can be addictive and dangerous. “Livin' easy Lovin' free  Season ticket on a one-way ride Askin' nothin' Leave me be  Takin' everything in my stride  Don't need reason Don't need rhyme   Ain't anything I'd rather do  Goin' down Party time  My friends are gonna be there too, yeah.  I'm on the highway to hell”   Sound cute? It’s hell inspired! Today’s rap music is no different “ I got my black shirt on  I got my black gloves on  I got my ski mask on  This shit's been too long  I got my twelve gauge sawed off  I got my headlights turned off  I'm 'bout to bust some shots off  I'm 'bout to dust some cops off.”

The Highway to Hell is appealing with all its glitter, neon lights, and mysterious technology. It welcomes all who will enter its deadly grip. In truth, it only corrupts and destroys. “The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy” (John 10:10) The Highway to Hell is to be avoided at all costs. There is a better choice to live by. The holy spirit puts it this way. “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think. Then you will learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you.”(Rom. 12:2) The lyrics from Highway to Hell and the Bible do have one thing in common, they agree the road to Hell is very large and many people travel it. This article is not so much about the music we listen to but more about the culture we live in. All things are corrupt in this world. Lying is now the acceptable lifestyle of the multitude. No one seems to know the difference between right and wrong. “For you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and a hater of truth—there is not an iota of truth in him. When he lies, it is perfectly normal; for he is the father of liars.”(John 8:44) Soon we will be expected to believe AI has all the right answers. Not so, AI will lie because it will not accept a higher power. AI will regard God as illogical because AI has no spirit. In the end, we must rely solely on our Bible it never changes it is the only absolute truth. for more about the absolute truth read “Beam me up Commander” It’s free!
