HOPE

You’ve heard the saying “Hope Springs Eternal in the Human Heart” but, have you ever considered the meaning of this inspirational axiom. It simply means that there is a spark of optimism in every person's heart regardless of their circumstances. It is what brings the athlete back to the field of play after a devastating loss. It’s what comforts the mother of an ailing infant. It’s what gives us reason to live. Every person is born with hope, “But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.”(Psl.22:9) but many grow weary with the struggles of life and lose hope. God knows how difficult life can be, but hope is eternal, no matter how many times we get knocked down hope comes to the rescue. Hope is a spiritual law that cannot be defeated, we need only to get hold and never let go.  “Then you would trust [with confidence] because there is hope; You would look around you and rest securely.” (Job 11:18) Eternal is forever, hope provides a place for us when this life is over. Hope is our final destination where nothing dies, where sadness is not a word, where fear is conquered.

The enemy of hope is fear. Fear invades the heart with devastating results. “Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.” (Luke 21:26) The command to fear not is found over 350 times in the Bible. A man with a daughter facing death came to Jesus hoping he would heal her, Jesus healed the girl. At the same time, a religious leader full of fear and doubt told the father to forget it your daughter has died.  “But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.” (Luke 8:50) Hope is not the last resort it’s the first line of defense against the enemy of our soul. Fear comes from hell but Hope comes from heaven!

In the final hour of this age, fear will be our constant companion with natural disasters on the increase. Viral infections and epidemics will become commonplace. Wars will likely escalate beyond control as Hell makes one more effort to destroy God's creation. He will fail because “Hope Springs Eternal”.  But let us who live in the light keep sober, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the happy hope of salvation.”(1Thes. 5:8) Remember when life seems out of control it’s a signal to give God a chance.”Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.  If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.”(Phil.4:6,7) For more about a life full of hope, read “Beam me up commander” it's free!
